UNC Charlotte Holds Meeting with Canadian Government Officials

The Office of International Programs recently coordinated a visit from James, K. Hill, Consul General, and Elizabeth Reid, Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner, Government of Canada, to discuss potential partnership, including research and economic development.

Sharing the world’s longest border, the U. S. and Canada and are strategic economic partners. According to the Government of Canada, 275 Canadian-owned businesses employ 23,529 workers in our state.

During their visit to UNC Charlotte, Hill and Reid were hosted by Joël Gallegos, Associate Provost for International Programs. Partners from across the University, including John Daniels, Interim Vice Chancellor for the Division of Research; Heather Smith, Professor and Interim Chair, Department of Geography and Earth Sciences; Carl Mahler II, Executive Director, Office of Research Commercialization and Development; and Madhav Mandjrekar, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Assistant Director, Corporate Engagement, Energy Production & Infrastructure Center (EPIC), held discussions on potential collaborations and have since communicated to move the conversation forward.
