From Romania to Charlotte: Fostering Partnerships During Niner Nation Week

Categories: General News

During Niner Nation Week 2025, the Office of International Programs had the honor of hosting a dynamic delegation from Romania, an inspiring group of 15 professionals representing eight universities across the country. This immersive program was designed to share best practices in alumni engagement while fostering cross-cultural exchange and building lasting relationships.

The visit included a wide range of activities that showcased the impact of UNC Charlotte and the depth of the University’s alumni network. The Romanian delegation participated in several Niner Nation Week events, including a social event at Suffolk Punch, the UNC Charlotte NPHC Homecoming Stroll Competition, the Alumni Tailgate, and, of course, the Homecoming football game.

A distinct highlight was the delegation’s meeting with key members of the Office of Alumni Affairs. In a session led by Jodi Kaplan, the Associate Provost of Alumni Engagement, the group engaged in thoughtful dialogue around alumni engagement strategies, advancement, and the evolving role of alumni in shaping institutional success.

The Office of International Programs extends sincere appreciation to the Office of Alumni Affairs and Division of University Advancement for their exceptional support, hospitality, and dedication throughout the program. Their efforts were instrumental in creating a welcoming and impactful experience for our Romanian guests. We look forward to continuing this dialogue and building on the connections forged during this unforgettable program.

Another special thanks goes to our friends at the Office of Alumni & Family Engagement at Davidson College who hosted the group for an afternoon and contributed to the group’s learning and overall experience.
