International Student Advisers Enjoy Extended Campus Visit
In late February, the Office of International Programs (OIP) welcomed four advisors from EducationUSA, a U.S. Department of State network of over 430 international student advising centers in more than 175 countries and territories.
The EducationUSA advisors serve as highly trained and well qualified resources to students in their geographic area to help demystify US higher education and the application process. They seek to become familiar with all US institutions and assist potential students via in-person and online advising.
Hailing from El Salvador, Ghana, Japan, and Uzbekistan, the visiting advisors met with diverse campus constituencies in addition to the OIP staff, ranging from undergraduate admissions to counseling center representatives. The group also met with students, faculty, and staff from the English Language Training Institute as well as degree-seeking students both international and domestic.
Additionally, the advisors’ robust schedule included visits to other local institutions of higher learning along with sites of cultural and regional interest. The educational advisors returned home with a highly favorable impression of UNC Charlotte and its environs and have first-hand knowledge of our campus and programs. We hope to welcome them back to Niner Nation very soon. Special thanks to UNC Charlotte student Haytam Elaji, pictured below, who led the group on an informative campus tour.
